As the first quarter of 2021 came to a close, the wellness app category on the iOS platform in the United Kingdom saw significant activity. Sensor Tower's data provides us with a glimpse into the performance of the top five wellness applications during this period.
Calm experienced a peak in revenue during the second week of January with approximately $221K, followed by a gradual decline to around $134K by the end of March. Downloads saw an initial spike at about 35K in the first week of January and then a downward trend to roughly 12K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users started strong at around 220K in the first week of January but saw a decrease to nearly 179K by the end of March.
Headspace: Sleep & Meditation also enjoyed a rise in revenue early in the quarter, with a high of around $132K in mid-January, stabilizing to about $109K by March's end. Downloads hit their highest at nearly 25K in the second week of January before falling to approximately 13K by the quarter’s close. Active users reached a peak of around 232K in the third week of January, with a slight decline to about 195K by the end of March.
Sleep Cycle - Sleep Tracker saw its revenue grow to nearly $38K in the second week of February, then dipped to about $23K by the end of March. Downloads remained relatively stable, peaking at around 12K in the first week of January and ending the quarter at approximately 8K. Weekly active users showed an upward trend from about 119K at the beginning of the year to a peak of 130K in late February, before decreasing to around 118K by the end of March.
Fabulous: Daily Habit Tracker demonstrated a significant revenue increase from roughly $7K at the end of December to a high of $35K in the last week of March. Downloads peaked at about 10K in the last week of January, with a slight decrease to around 13K towards the end of March. Active users saw a steady increase from 24K to approximately 35K during the same period.
Breethe: Sleep & Meditation showed a steady revenue with a peak of around $19K in late February, dropping to about $12K by the quarter's end. Downloads saw an initial increase to approximately 6K in the third week of January, followed by a decrease to around 1K by March's end. The active user count started at 7K at the beginning of the year, peaked at nearly 8K in January, and ended the quarter at around 4K.
